Overview
POSITION: Coordinator, RTI/MTSS
EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt
NUMBER OF DAYS: According to district approved calendar
DEPARTMENT: Teaching and Learning
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning
SUPERVISES: As assigned
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with the appropriate teacher certification
- Master’s Degree from accredited college or university preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience
Deep knowledge of the subject-area content and research-based instructional strategies/practices
- Capacity to lead content-area teaching teams for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement.
Manages the oversight of the district’s Response to Intervention model of student support which aims to identify and provide early intervention to all students not mastering grade level academic skills.
Essential Functions- Train and support campus leadership and other school personnel on the campus intervention team to accurately utilize universal screening data to identify opportunities for student support and growth, determine research-based interventions that meet targeted areas of weakness, identify and/or create and incorporate the use of progress monitoring tools that will measure student growth resulting from interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions provided at each tier.
- Disaggregate and analyze data to create reports for use by district and campus staff.
- Provide on-going training and support to campus leadership teams, teachers and district staff on the intersection of RTI and PLCs in providing timely, targeted, and systematic interventions to students.
- Observe and provide coaching to the campus intervention team on the facilitation of RTI meetings.
- Provide thorough explanations and modeling, as necessary, for teachers and other staff on how to implement academic interventions with fidelity.
- Monitor all student intervention plans that are submitted for a possible Special Services evaluation.
- Follow up with campuses on students that were referred for special education testing, but did not qualify, to ensure that a support plan is put in place for them within the general education setting.
- Work in conjunction with the Special Services testing and evaluation personnel to maintain a common vocabulary of systems and procedures.
- Work in conjunction with the Teaching and Learning department, including Special Services, and the Bilingual/ ESL department to work toward improving differentiation within Tier 1 instruction.
- Work in conjunction with the district’s Dropout Prevention and Intervention Coordinator and Counseling Department to connect students to external wrap around services, as appropriate, to address barriers that are impacting students’ progress and development in school.
- Ensure compliance of the parental notifications requirements for those students receiving Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions.
- Provide guidance to campus RTI teams on allowable state assessment accommodation decisions that can be made for students with an RTI plan.
- Understand FERPA requirements and work to ensure the integrity of student and staff data confidentiality and follow district policy and regulations.
- Develop an understanding of the state and federal accountability systems and PEIMS data standards and the connection with campus improvement and functioning.
- Maintain a variety of records and files in both manual and electronic formats for the purpose of documenting activities and ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
- Develop protocol for tracking district and campus interventions at the Tier 2 and Tier 3 level to assist in the enhancement of student learning at both the elementary and secondary level.
- Provide technical assistance and staff development to district and campus staff on the requirements of the state and federal accountability programs.
