Position: FACULTY-ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING
Job Title FACULTY-ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING Position Status Full Time Classification Title Faculty-10.5 month Work Location Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX

Job Summary

The faculty member will teach registered nursing content in the classroom, skills/simulation labs, and clinical settings, while actively participating in program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Required Qualifications

* Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required. Applicants with a non-nursing master's degree must have a BSN from an accredited program and at least six graduate-level nursing credit hours relevant to the teaching area

* Current, or eligibility for, an unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas

* At least three years of recent nursing experience or advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration

* Proficient in English with strong written and verbal communication skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy

* Relevant nursing experience aligned with departmental needs and teaching responsibilities

* Familiarity with nursing-related equipment

* Valid Texas driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability under Midland College's policy

Preferred Qualifications

* Doctorate degree in nursing or a related field

* College-level teaching experience

* Experience with instructional technology

* Experience with clinical simulation

Essential Functions

Teaching and Instruction

* Teach courses and labs with a lecture equivalent hour (LEH) load aligned with program requirements; overloads compensated per college policy

* Communicate clear learning objectives and expectations to students

* Develop and administer assessments that effectively measure student learning outcomes

* Maintain a well-managed learning environment across all instructional settings

* Identify at-risk students and implement early interventions to support success

* Continuously improve instructional quality through evaluation and innovation in teaching methods

* Recommend appropriate textbooks and instructional materials, including open educational resources

* Maintain accessibility to students via posted office hours, Canvas, and electronic communication

Curriculum and Program Development

* Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing curriculum

* Participate in creating, implementing, and enforcing program standards and policies

* Maintain familiarity with Texas Board of Nursing requirements and uphold applicable standards

* Support accreditation efforts by understanding and contributing to Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards

* Stay current with trends in nursing practice and education

Student Support and Clinical Supervision

* Provide academic advising, guidance, and support to students

* Supervise students in clinical settings

* Assist in the orientation of new full-time and part-time faculty and clinical preceptors

Administrative and Institutional Duties

* Fulfill faculty responsibilities in accordance with Midland College policies and the Employee and Faculty Handbook

* Maintain accurate academic and program records; submit required documentation on time

* Serve on departmental, divisional, and college-wide committees as needed

* Participate in student recruitment, academic advising, and official college events (e.g., graduation, pinning ceremonies)

Professional Development and Service

* Engage in ongoing professional development related to nursing and education

* Contribute to college and community initiatives through service and outreach

* Establish and maintain positive relationships with community and healthcare partners

* Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

* Ability to remain seated or stationary for extended periods (up to 50% of the time)

* Occasional movement across campus and to off-site locations, including driving

* Frequent use of a keyboard and manual dexterity for computer work

* Clear and effective verbal communication for exchanging accurate information

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus

* Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds regularly

* Work occurs in the office, classroom, clinical, and occasional outdoor settings

* Must be able to walk and stand for supervision in clinical environments

* Availability to work extended hours and attend college or community events

Min Salary Max Salary Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
