Job Summary

Assist students in the Math Lab with math assignments using effective tutoring techniques.

Required Qualifications

* Successful completion of the equivalent of a transfer level math course or instructor recommendation

* Ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in groups

* Ability to explain information and mathematical concepts through oral and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

* Prefer Math, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering major

* Basic computer skills

Essential Functions

* Instruct and assist students in the use of mathematical related technology such as the calculators (TI-30, TI-35, TI-83, TI-84), mathematical software, and computerized tutorial programs through demonstrations

* Work effectively with math students of all levels to promote student success in mathematics

* Must be organized, reliable, and punctual

* Follow best practices for tutoring as instructed

* Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures

* Contribute to a safe educational and working environment

* Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

* Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds

* Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time

* Ability to move around room to assist students for entire shift

* Use of manual dexterity

Security Sensitivity

Min Salary $11.00 per hour Max Salary $17.50 per hour Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
