Job Objective:
Provides student services consistent with the district mission and legal requirements.
NOTE:
Work assignments/schedules may fluctuate to address variable staffing needs.
- Valid Ohio Department of Education license/permit as determined at the time of appointment.
- Meets mandated state/federal criteria (i.e., approved degree, completion of requisite higher education credit hours/courses, or acceptable score on an authorized professional standards test).
- Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
- Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.
- Embraces high-performance standards (e.g., engagement, proficiency, resilience, etc.).
- Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.
Note:
Blood-borne pathogen/communicable disease, child abuse/neglect, CPR, first aid/injury prevention and nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training may be required. Some positions require specialized skills using communication boards, sign language, finger spelling, etc.

Duties require communicating verbally, far/near visual acuity, fine/gross manipulation, reaching at or below shoulder height, standing/walking, stooping, and using a traditional keyboard.

Essential Functions- Receives directions from the assigned supervisor. Performs non-teaching program support services that facilitate the timely attainment of district objectives.
- Learns the proper procedure for operating equipment associated with assigned duties.
- Consults with the assigned supervisor to receive support and address concerns.
- Communicates rules to students (i.e., behavioral expectations and non-compliance consequences).
- Uses positive behavioral interventions and supports to maintain discipline.
- Keeps school personnel informed about student behavior concerns.
- Attends to student concerns discreetly when assistance is requested.
- Works with staff to identify student assistance strategies most likely to be effective.
- Ensures accountability of student attendance. Communicates concerns to appropriate staff.
- Develops mutually respectful relationships with co-workers. Functions as part of a cohesive team.
- Maintains a professional appearance. Wears work attire appropriate for the position.
- Respects privacy. Ensures the veracity and security of confidential information.
- Sustains an acceptable attendance record. Consistently complies with established work schedules.
- Fosters goodwill and encourages relationships that enhance public support for the district.
- Refers administrative procedure and district policy questions to an appropriate administrator.

Provides support within the classroom setting at the direction of the classroom teacher/supervisor. - Library/Media:
