Hutchinson Public Schools is seeking a Special Education & REACH ADSIS Education Assistant at the High School for the  school year and beyond.

Special Education Assistants work directly with students on Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), providing support, explanation, re‑teaching, and instructional help. The ADSIS Education Assistant will support students at the High School and in the REACH room.

This position will work 175 days per year, 6.5 hours per day. The salary range is $18.52 to $21.02 per hour, depending on education and experience.

• Carry out the IEP goals as designed by the teacher
• Help reinforce the teachings of the classroom teacher by working with students one‑to‑one or in small groups
• Help students strengthen their skills to become more independent
• Assist the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management, observe, record, and chart behaviors
• Conferring and planning with teachers to recommend ideas, identify problems, and aid in problem‑solving
• Help the classroom teacher with record‑keeping of the student’s progress, conduct informal assessments to measure mastery of materials as directed by the teacher
• Maintain confidentiality standards by adhering to the district’s data privacy policy
• Attend meetings and in‑service training for staff development, following suggestions from teachers, the principal, and others who provide staff development
