Hutchinson Public Schools is seeking a Special Education & REACH ADSIS Education Assistant at the High School for the school year and beyond. Special Education Assistants get to work directly with our students and can make a significant impact on their education experience. As a Special Education Assistant, you will assist individual students who are on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) by providing support, explanation, re‑teaching, and instructional help.
The ADSIS Education Assistant will provide support, explanation, re‑teaching, and instructional help for students. This position will work at the High School with Special Education students and in the REACH room as an ADSIS Education Assistant.
This position will work 175 days per year, 6.5 hours per day. Salary range: $18.52 per hour – $21.02 per hour; salary dependent upon education and experience.
Responsibilities- Carry out the IEP goals as designed by the teacher
- Help to reinforce the teachings of the classroom teacher by working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
- Help students strengthen their skills to become more independent
- Assist the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management; observe, record, and chart behaviors
- Conferring and planning with teachers to recommend ideas, identify problems, and aid in problem‑solving
- Help the classroom teacher with recordkeeping of student’s progress; conduct informal assessments to measure students’ mastery of learned materials as directed by the classroom teacher
- Maintain confidentiality standards by adhering to the district’s data privacy policy
- Attend meetings and in‑service for staff development; follow suggestions made by classroom teachers, the principal, and others who may provide staff development
- Associate’s Degree
- 60 semester college credits
- Passing score on one of the state‑approved tests (Para Educator or Para Pro)
- Competency Grid (can be completed upon hire)
