Job Title: High School Assistant Principal
Reports To: High School Principal
Supervises: Assigned Staff Members in the building
Evaluation: Annual evaluation will be performed by Supervisor
FLSA Status: Exempt
Status: Full Time
Hourly/Salaried: Salary
Days: 225
Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000
Basic Function: Provide an atmosphere conducive to learning, always with a focus on the students and improving student achievement.
Required Qualifications- Valid state certification with endorsement for 5-12 Principal from the BOEE or be eligible to obtain.
- Iowa Evaluator Approval or be eligible to obtain.
- Master's Degree in Educational Administration.
- Quality teaching experiences
- Apply reflective practice with the Standards of School Leaders including: vision, culture of teaching/learning, management, relationships, ethics, legal context.
- Support the vision and mission of the District.
- Assist the building principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Serve as building administrator in the absence of building principal.
- Work with student personnel services including coordinating with counselors, AEA staff and social service agencies.
- Assist in the coordination and supervision of special programs- IEPs, 504 Plans and At-Risk programming.
- Make recommendations to the building principal for changes in policies, personnel practices, and other such matters that may result in more efficient school administration.
- Assists the building principal in the hiring of certified and classified staff.
- Provide instructional leadership and evaluate assigned teachers, paraprofessionals and secretaries with District evaluation procedures.
- Assists in the monitoring of attendance and recordkeeping.
- Assist building principal with the enforcement of student discipline policies
- Assist in providing supervision in building, hallways, commons, grounds, and parking lot ensuring building security and safety.
- Share in the supervision of school activities and events out of the school day.
- Collaborate with the district administrative team.
- Effectively communicates and collaborates with students, staff, and families, building strong partnerships to support student learning.

- Works collaboratively with special education teachers, para educators, and families to ensure inclusive practices to meet diverse learning needs.

- Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Building Principal and Superintendent.
