Position: Teacher Assistant, Pre-Kindergarten

Department: Teaching and Learning

Reports To: Principal and Teachers Assigned

Supervises: None

Number of Days: According to district approved calendar

• Follow the directions of the supervisor
• Prepare materials and displays as directed
• Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal skills
• Conduct small group and large group activities
• Work cooperatively with teachers and students
• Assist the teacher in maintaining student discipline
• Assist the teacher in ensuring the care and safety of students
• Assist the teacher in caring for equipment and teaching materials
• Change diapers and assist with restroom needs
• Assist students with toileting
• Feed or assist with feeding students as needed
• Assist with lifting students
• Assist students with other self‑help skills
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent plus 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university
• Educational Aide Certificate from the state of Texas
• Some experience working with special education children
• Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense)
• Good people skills and ability to attend professional development trainings required by the district
• Ability to work well with all students and children

• Standing, walking, bending, use of fingers, lifting (45 lbs. or more)
• Regular attendance required
