Job DescriptionPOSITION: Teacher Assistant, Autism Class
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
NUMBER OF DAYS: According to district approved calendar
DEPARTMENT: Teaching and Learning
REPORTS TO: Principal, Supervising Teacher, Special Services Supervisor
SUPERVISES: None
Education- High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
- Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
- Some experience working with special education children
Assist special education teacher provide for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education and general education settings
Essential Functions- Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense)
- Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification. The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher;
- Have satisfied one of the following requirements:
- Has three creditable years of experience as either an educational aide I or II;
- Has completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas;
- Has experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
