Position Function/PurposeAssist the librarian and assist the teacher in the preparation and management of activities and administrative requirements.
Essential Functions- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
- Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom and library.
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist the teacher and librarian in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
- Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Processing books and instructional media.
- Inventory classroom needs on a regular basis.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Other duties as assigned by cluster librarian and or building principals.
- Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense).
- Hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher.
- Satisfy one of the following requirements: 3 creditable years of experience as an educational aide I or II, or 30 semester credit hours of college credit with emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas.
- Ability to work well with children.
- Knowledge of general office equipment.
