Job Title - PT Tutor-Language Hub (Pool)
Position Status - Part Time
Classification Title - Part-Time Tutor-Up to 19 hpw
Work Location - Main Campus- 3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX
Job Summary - Tutors help with any stage of the writing process on writing assignments for any college course. Examples of content tutors assist with include brainstorming, organization, vocabulary, audience awareness/tone, formatting, paragraph development,MLA/APAformatting, logistics of researching, and editing. This list is not exhaustive.
Required Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent
- 12 hours of college credit completed with a 3.0 or higher overall G.P.A
- Must have completed English 1301 or English 1302 with an "A"
- Knowledge of computers/Canvas
- Understanding of Word formatting and MLA format
- Ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in a group
- Ability to speak and write clearly in English
- Actively engage with students in the tutoring process
- Help students learn to recognize their own errors and make improvements
- Interact with students on an individual basis or in a group
- Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time Ability to move around the room to assist students
- Manual dexterity
All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.
Min Salary - $9.50 per hour
Max Salary - $15.75 per hour
Pay Statement - Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
