Job Title: PT Lab Assistant/Tutor-Math Lab (Pool)

Work Location: Main Campus - 3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX

Job Summary: Assist students in the Math Lab with math assignments using effective tutoring techniques.

Required Qualifications: Successful completion of the equivalent of a transfer level math course or instructor recommendation; ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in groups; ability to explain information and mathematical concepts through oral and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer Math, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering major;
Basic computer skills.

• Instruct and assist students in the use of mathematical related technology such as the calculators (TI-30, TI-35, TI-83, TI-84), mathematical software, and computerized tutorial programs through demonstrations.
• Work effectively with math students of all levels to promote student success in mathematics.
• Must be organized, reliable, and punctual.
• Follow best practices for tutoring as instructed.
• Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures.
• Contribute to a safe educational and working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds; must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; ability to move around room to assist students for entire shift; use of manual dexterity.

All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Minimum Salary: $11.00 per hour

Maximum Salary: $17.50 per hour

Pay Statement: Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
