Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with the appropriate teacher certification

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience
  • Deep knowledge of the subject‑area content and evidence‑based instructional strategies/practices
  • Capacity to lead content‑area teaching teams for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement; 2 years working with inventory systems
Position Function / Purpose

Responsible for implementing and monitoring the district instructional materials accountability system and fixed asset inventory process. Assist teachers in utilizing the best and most reliable teaching techniques; assist in providing professional development for teachers in new, remedial, or accelerated instructional procedures; assist in the development and implementation of the District curriculum as it relates to the subject for which the subject specialist is responsible.

  • Maintain open and continued communication with leaders and teachers for a united approach to curriculum methods and content.
  • Create professional development aligned to the TEKS, goals, and resources implemented by the district as needed.
  • Perform all aspects of the requisition, exchange, and distribution of instructional materials in accordance with State and district regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Implement and maintain an accountable school‑site instructional materials inventory management system that ensures appropriate quantities of instructional materials are available at each campus when required for instruction.
  • Plan and maintain an accountable inventory and stock control system for the fixed assets of the district and recommend replacement and disposal of assets when necessary.
  • Conduct an annual physical inventory of the district’s fixed assets and instructional materials.
  • Train campus staff to use established procedures and guidelines to effectively and efficiently implement a site‑by‑site instructional materials inventory management and distribution system.
  • Work with district accounting, purchasing, and distribution services to ensure the timely receipt, identification, and recording of newly acquired fixed assets and instructional materials.
  • Use records management and administration procedures to ensure inventory records are maintained, preserved, and disposed of in accordance with the requirements of State and district regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  • Assign work to campus fixed asset and instructional materials custodians and oversee completion.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor the work and issue work assignments to campus and warehouse workers as needed.
  • Facilitate the use of district resources to their fullest capacity: lesson planning, resource selection, assessments, data digging, and data interpretations for instructional decisions.
  • Serve as a communication liaison between teachers, campus administration, and district curriculum staff so that information is disseminated in an accurate and effective way.
  • Assist leaders and teachers by doing instructional walks and offering feedback for successfully implementing the MISD curriculum.
  • Consult with teachers and staff on research and new approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Support in the development, planning, and implementation of special and all programs at District and campus levels.
  • Assist in the professional development of teachers through the sharing of best practices and observing, successful teaching techniques either within MISD or other sources.
  • Provide technical support for a learning management system (LMS) used to access instructional materials.
  • Provide support through planning and professional development for teachers and staff to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
