Position Details
Title
: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (EI), ELEMENTARY
Salary Range
: $49,449-$107,023 (salary protection available)

Applicants must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in the following area:
Emotional Impairment (SE).
Instruct students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible citizens.

Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent. Must possess valid teaching certification with appropriate endorsement for subject area. - Ability to withstand the physical and mental rigors of teaching.
- Demonstrated technical skills: computer knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, and other basic computer skills; familiarity with student information systems; computer competency and emerging technologies.
- Well‑developed problem‑solving skills.
- Sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters.
- Working knowledge of best‑practice strategies; able to make research‑based decisions.
- Ability to collect and analyze data to assess student achievement.
- Ability to provide differentiated instruction for students.
- Effective communication with parents, staff, and students, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment.
- Pass background check.
- Working knowledge of IEP and Special Education documentation; manage special education caseload, conduct IEPT meetings, complete IEP forms, and monitor compliance with IDEA and MARSE rules.
- Collect and analyze data to assess achievement; provide differentiated instruction and accommodations based on individual student data; identify and incorporate strategic and intensive interventions.
- Work with special‑needs students in an inclusive setting.
- Successfully complete district‑assigned trainings within deadlines.
- Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Maintain an organized environment.
- Work independently and with a team.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality regarding district matters and records.
- Teach district‑approved curriculum.
- Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to student maturity and interests.
- Administer and develop subject‑specific assessments to evaluate competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
- Advise parents and legal guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and improvement methods.
- Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional hours, as needed.
- Assess student progress toward objectives and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
- Demonstrate differentiated methods to address individual student requirements and promote growth.
- Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe, optimal learning environment.
- Monitor students in multiple settings (classroom, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) to ensure safety and positivity.
- Participate in meetings and PD activities to convey and gather information that results in optimum performance.
- Prepare written materials (grades, lesson plans, examinations, quizzes, attendance, anecdotal records) to document progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulations.
- Use tools to assess growth and provide progress reports.
- Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth; keep hard copy and web‑based records; prepare progress/grade reports.
