Assistant Winter Guard Coach

The Assistant Winter Guard Coach supports the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a successful winter guard program that promotes performance excellence, teamwork, discipline, and student growth. The assistant coach helps instruct students in choreography, movement, equipment technique, and performance skills while fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning and conducting rehearsals, practices, and performances.
  • Teach and reinforce choreography, dance, flag, rifle, and sabre technique.
  • Support students in developing performance quality, confidence, and teamwork.
  • Help supervise students during rehearsals, competitions, camps, and travel.
  • Promote good sportsmanship, discipline, and professionalism among team members.
  • Assist with equipment management, uniforms, props, and show preparation.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach and Band Director on show design and instructional goals.
  • Ensure student safety and adherence to school and program policies.
  • Help communicate schedules, expectations, and updates with students and parents.
  • Attend competitions, performances, and required staff meetings.
Qualifications
  • Experience in winter guard, color guard, dance, marching arts, or related performance activities preferred.
  • Previous coaching or instructional experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Positive leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Availability for evening and weekend rehearsals and competitions during the season.
  • High school diploma required; college experience in performing arts or education preferred.
Compensation
  • Seasonal stipend based on district guidelines and experience.
Terms of Employment
  • Seasonal/part-time position.
  • Schedule determined by rehearsal and competition calendar.
