Experience Requirements
  • Prior experience or formal training in working with "at-risk" students preferred.
  • A proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with a variety of constituencies including parents, students, and staff.
  • Ability to effectively educate and manage students from varying backgrounds and socio-economic levels.
  • Experience in effectively handling conflict.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

The Professional side of this role aligns with the school's mission and educational standards, implementing them in their instructional practices. They support the administration in upholding student conduct policies, ensuring student and facility safety. Accurate record-keeping is maintained as per legal requirements and school policies. The professional strives for continuous improvement in their expertise relevant to their teaching assignment. They actively participate in meetings and collaboration, maintain effective communication with students, colleagues, and parents, and fulfill additional tasks assigned by the Principal.

Cooperation with other school employees and making themselves available for educational purposes beyond regular hours are also emphasized.

The Instructional side involves meeting and guiding assigned students at designated times and locations. The instructor creates a tailored program using provided tools to match students' individual needs and interests. They establish a conducive blended classroom atmosphere, prepare thoroughly for classes, and ensure high behavioral and academic standards. The instructor applies positive behavior strategies, maintains classroom order fairly, and employs diverse teaching methods while focusing on curriculum standards.

Regular assessment, documentation, and collaboration with specialists ensure all students' progress, including those in special programs. The instructor also supervises educational assistants and volunteers while assessing their performance with input from supervisors.
