Licensed Specialist in School Psychology Assistant (LSSP - Assistant), Special Services Program
Location: Midland, Texas – Special Services – Open until filled.
Starting Date: Immediately.

Education- Master’s Degree in Psychology; or acceptance into a Master’s Degree program to pursue School Psychology
- Pursuing School Psychologist licensure (preferred)
- Knowledge of psychological theory, assessment of child and adolescent personality, and objective and projective personality measures.
- Knowledge of educational foundations.
- Ability to manage programs effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership of professional staff and provide clinical supervision.
- Ability to interpret statistical educational data.
- Knowledge of Special Education laws pertaining to the education of students with emotional disabilities and autism.
Conduct observations for School Psychologists to assist with psychological evaluations and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) of referred students. Plan and manage the psychological evaluation referrals for School Psychologists. Coordinate interagency referrals and agreements. Provide training for teachers in special teaching methods and behavioral intervention. Assist with the creation of FBAs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Train staff to follow BIPs and other relevant topics.
Monitor referral log and assist supervisor with contract staff assignments for needed assessments.
- Supervise the materials for school psychologists.
- Ensure School Psychologists have access to the necessary testing platforms.
- Knowledge of psychological theory, assessment of child and adolescent personality, and objective and projective personality measures.
- Knowledge of educational foundations.
- Ability to manage programs effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership of professional staff and provide clinical supervision.
- Ability to interpret statistical educational data.
- Knowledge of Special Education laws pertaining to the education of students with emotional disabilities and autism.
- Alternatives to these qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.
- Experience working with students who have individual and specific needs.
- Experience with research-guided practices used in School Psychology and services.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
- Repetitive hand motions.
- Prolonged use of computer.
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
- Move small stacks of evaluation materials, desks, and other classroom equipment.
