POSITION:

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Deliver evidence‑based Structured Literacy instruction to students with identified reading and language‑based learning needs.
  • Assess student performance using formal and informal measures and utilize data to guide instruction and interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals related to reading, writing, executive functioning, and academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support student access to grade‑level curriculum and accommodations.
  • Participate in PPT meetings, case management activities, and compliance‑related documentation.
  • Utilize multisensory instructional strategies to address deficits in phonological awareness, decoding, encoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  • Provide direct and consultative services in inclusion, resource, and specialized instructional settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training and experience in Structured Literacy methodologies such as Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Fundations, or similar evidence‑based reading interventions.
  • Knowledge of dyslexia, language‑based learning disabilities, and adolescent literacy development.
  • Experience interpreting educational evaluations and using assessment data to inform instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CT Certification in Special Education (165, 265, or 065)
  • Excellent teaming, collaboration and communication skills.
  • The ability to differentiate instruction.
  • Prefer teaching experience in structured literacy
