Teacher - Theater Arts (Legacy Freshman)
Midland Independent School District, Legacy Freshman High School, Midland, Texas. Full‑time position with an immediate start.
Position Summary
Instructional responsibilities for theater arts, including curriculum implementation, lesson planning, student assessment, classroom management, and community engagement.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement the curriculum and lesson plans, ensuring accommodations for all students.Present subject matter in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.Use a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to meet student needs.Collaborate with staff on instructional goals, objectives, and methods.Supervise teacher assistants or volunteers.Utilize technology in the teaching and learning process.Assist in selecting instructional materials.Guide students in analyzing and improving study habits.Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.Serve as a positive role model supporting the district’s mission.Create a conducive learning environment and maintain discipline per board policies.Take precautions to protect students and supervise them as directed by the principal.Promote a positive work environment and staff morale.Participate in school improvement planning and implementation.Assist in selecting and orienting new instructional staff.Ensure proper use of equipment and facilities.Maintain open communication with students, parents, and the community.Use professional communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Participate in district professional development programs.Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with community guidelines and the Texas Education Agency code of ethics.Comply with state, district, and school regulations and maintain required records.Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Perform any other duties as assigned.Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate.
- Student teaching, approved internship, or alternative teacher certification program.
- Knowledge of theater arts and curriculum instruction.
- Eligibility for the appropriate probationary certificate through a TEA‑approved teacher certification program.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa requirements as specified.
Physical Demands
Requires regular sitting, standing, moving, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Regular use of vision, hearing, and hand movements. Occasional travel within the district.
Work EnvironmentModerate noise level. Must maintain emotional control under stress. May work after school and on weekends. Occasional travel to other district facilities.
