Essential FunctionsA teacher assistant in special education is subject to reassignment during the year because of student population shifts.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of accredited college or university education.
- Educational Aide Certificate from the state of Texas.
- Some experience working with special education children.
- Willingness to apply for or possess a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense).
- Good people skills; ability to work well with children and all students.
- Standing, walking, repeated bending, pushing.
- Heavy lifting (45 lbs. or over).
- Regular attendance required.
- Copier, audio‑visual equipment, laminator, typewriter.
- In some cases: wheelchairs, lifts, crutches, blender, stove, and medical equipment.
