Supervises: None
Education- High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
- Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
- Some experience working with special education children preferred
Provides instructional assistance to students under the supervision of a certified teacher; assists in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Provides support facilitation in the general education classroom to support IEP implementation.
Essential FunctionsNOTE: A teacher assistant in special education is subject to reassignment during the year because of student population shifts; therefore, these may be additional responsibilities.
Qualification Requirements- hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher;
- have satisfied one of the following requirements:
- has three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II;
- has completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas;
- and have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
