Job Description- Position: Teacher Assistant, Physical Education
- Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
- Number of Days: According to district approved calendar
- Department: Teaching and Learning
- Reports To: Principal and Teachers Assigned
- Supervises: None
- High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
- Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
- Some experience working with children
Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Essential Functions- Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense)
- Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification. The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall
- Hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher
- Have satisfied one of the following requirements:
- Has three creditable years of experience as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II
- Has completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas
- Have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent
- Ability to work well with children
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Standing (at least 30 minutes per period)
- Stooping
- Bending
- Light to moderate lifting 15-44 lbs.
- Moderate to heavy carrying
- Ability to see and monitor students’ activity
- Regular attendance required
