Salary Range: $46,744 to $107,076 Annually

General Summary of Purpose of Job:
Facilitates utilization of evidence-based and positive behavior practices that help students develop; support programmatic changes and individual approaches to student behavior, and assist staff in developing individualized interventions. Designs and maintains behavior support systems in the building. Promotes a positive behavioral support mindset with staff and students.

SECTION II:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop equitable systems by leading positive behavior programs and strategies such as Catalyst/ Envoy, Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) initiatives, BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Innocent Classroom, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Develop interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors.
  • Develop procedures and training materials for district staff involved with students with challenging behaviors for the purpose of enhancing programs for students and ensuring that program operations are in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Communicate with appropriate teachers and other district staff personnel as necessary on behavior matters.
  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
  • Actively participate in behavior intervention meetings and professional development.
  • Record anecdotal student progress notes and maintain behavioral charting data.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to Student Behavior Assistants on strategies to address student behaviors, de-escalating techniques, and re-integrating students back into the classroom.
  • Conduct workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc. in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with behaviorally or emotionally challenged students in alignment with district programs.
  • Adhere to district policies and procedures.
  • Implement classroom management system as applicable.
  • Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SECTION III: WORK REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum education and experience required to perform adequately in position could reasonably be attained only by completing the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related field
  • Valid Minnesota teaching license issued by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enrollment in, or completion of, MN administrative licensure program
  • Successful classroom experience preferred

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: (Identify licenses/certification required upon hiring:

  • Valid Minnesota Teaching License or five (5) or more years of teaching experience

Licensure Requirement (State Law): In accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 122A.261, educators working in public preschool, School Readiness, and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) programs within school districts and charter schools are required to hold a valid Minnesota teaching license by July 1, 2028.

Educators with five (5) or more years of relevant teaching experience prior to September 2028 may qualify for an exemption under this law.
