Field Safety Coordinator

Overview

Field Safety Coordinator – Field site located in Stanton, TX.

Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is an engineering/construction company headquartered in Katy, TX, specializing in natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries.

• Conduct walk-through inspections of field job sites to identify and eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe acts performed by employees.
• Organizes and prepares the delivery of safety meetings and training.
• Ensure employees are following safe work procedures as specified in OPD's New Hire Orientation, toolbox meetings, and OSHA required training.
• Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous safety conditions and environmental risks.
• Make recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
• Respond to and conduct accident investigations and injury/accident case management.
• Apply the Company's Substance Abuse Testing policy to maintain compliance, including drug screen collections and records management while adhering to HIPAA standards.
• Partner with HR & site leaders on employee issues and concerns (e.g., onboarding questions, code of conduct).
• Conduct mandatory new hire safety orientation training as needed.
• Administer safe permitting process (Lock Out Tag Out, etc.).

• Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
• Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs.
• Standing for extended periods of time up to 12 hours per day; working through breaks as necessary.
• Moving the entire body; considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis.
• Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools.

• Actively participate in a strong safety culture.
• Recognize safety hazards and risks.
• Participate in onsite safety meetings.
• Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures.
• Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite.
• Be on time to the jobsite each day ready for work.
• Display a positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• At least 2 years of experience in a field safety position in the heavy construction industry.
• Computer knowledge – ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and proprietary databases.
• Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and implement company and OSHA safety regulations and standards.
• Proof of OSHA 510 or OSHA 30 Hour Course.
• Ability to interpret evaluation results/feedback and adjust to improve performance.
• Basic knowledge of atmospheric testing requirements and use of four‑gas monitors.

• Travel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times.
• Must be able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week.
• Must be able to meet all physical demands of the job.

• Valid driver’s license.
• 3+ years of experience in a craft role, primarily field construction.
• Fluent in Spanish.
• CPR, First Aid and AED Certification.
• Experience on excavations, trenching and soil mechanics.
• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO).
• Experience using root cause analysis techniques such as Fishbone, Taproot, 5 whys or other methods.
• Past supervisory experience.
