Rotating Equipment Vibration Analyst - CO2

Position Description

Providing rotating equipment vibration analysis support to the CO2 business unit’s operational assets (Oil & Gas, Midstream & RNG assets). This position requires analyzing the health of different types of rotating machinery to proactively identify, predict, and remediate equipment and system issues. The role demands solid experience in vibration analysis using Emerson’s CSI vibration analyzers and a CAT 1 vibration certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate safe behavior and ensure proactive, high‑quality customer service to supported assets.
  • Utilize Emerson’s CSI analyzers to create and set up data collection routes and analyzer settings (e.g., Fmax, lines of resolution) for plant equipment.
  • Collect and analyze vibration data for rotating machinery such as split‑case pumps, H‑pumps, vertical pumps, screw and centrifugal compressors, motors, gearboxes, air‑coolers, etc.
  • Use trending, time‑wave form, and FFT spectral data to identify equipment issues and provide corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Reduce unplanned machinery downtime by predicting imminent failures and diagnosing root causes.
  • Incorporate process data (pressures, temperatures, flows, loads, efficiency) to assess machinery health.
  • Provide field diagnostics and troubleshooting support to operations and maintenance.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and incident investigations as needed.
  • Utilize CMMs (Maximo) to generate reports.
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements
  • Education:

    At least a high school diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience collecting vibration data on centrifugal equipment in process industries (oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, etc.). Similar experience in other industries will be considered.
  • Experience using CSI (Emerson) analyzers preferred; experience with other analyzers acceptable.
  • Knowledge of any CMM software (Maximo, SAP, etc.) desired.
  • Knowledge of oil analysis and infrared thermography are pluses but not required.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • CAT 1 vibration certification required.

Physical Demands
  • Frequent travel to field/plant sites.
  • Walking and standing on platforms and between running equipment.
  • Ability to hear and see communications from others and provide verbal instructions.
Working Conditions
  • Field, plant, and office environments.
  • Occasional work in adverse weather conditions.
