Overview

Blackbeard Operating, LLC is seeking an Electrical Engineer responsible for assisting with managing our electrical infrastructure and investments in the Permian Basin. The Engineer’s role will be focused on field-level execution and oversight of various operations with a strong emphasis on electrical-related projects. The position will work daily with operations to ensure proper installation of well site equipment and report directly to the Project Manager.

The position will be located in Midland, Texas.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for construction and maintenance of various facilities, including but not limited to electrical infrastructure on upstream oil and gas, surface development, and mid-stream assets
  • Coordinate proper installation of ESPs, other high-horsepower equipment, and special installs such as new capacitor banks, reclosers, etc.
  • Diagnose field operation issues, including identifying problems and repairing the issue
  • Manage power studies to ensure repairs and upgrades are documented and completed
  • Utilize Milsoft software to properly model electrical systems
  • Manage and document electrical inventory, including transformers, panels, motors, etc.
  • Review electric invoices for accuracy and track all related data
  • Assist in internal deduct metering allocations and billing
  • Perform failure analysis and implement improvements
  • Manage electrical infrastructure KMZs to ensure the system design is documented accurately
  • Assist in special projects such as crypto mine installs and dedicated primary lines
  • Assist in managing electrical hedges
  • Manage internal material transfers of electrical equipment
  • Ensure that all safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines are followed
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline required
  • 2-3 years of relevant industry experience preferred
  • General understanding of fundamental oil and gas best practices and safety
  • Must be self-motivated, maintain high character, pay attention to detail, and be able to balance a large workload
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to anticipate and execute value-adding projects with minimal supervision
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours in the office and field
