A privately held energy operator is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support and help manage electrical infrastructure and related capital projects within the Permian Basin. This role is heavily focused on field-level execution and operational oversight, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems and high-horsepower equipment installations.
The position works closely with operations teams to ensure proper installation, maintenance, and performance of wellsite equipment and reports directly to the Project Manager. This role is based in Midland, Texas.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee construction and maintenance of electrical infrastructure across upstream, surface development, and midstream assets
- Coordinate installation of ESPs, high-horsepower equipment, capacitor banks, reclosers, and other specialized electrical systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose field electrical issues, implement repairs, and ensure system reliability
- Conduct and manage power studies to support repairs, upgrades, and system optimization
- Utilize electrical modeling software to accurately represent and analyze system design
- Maintain and document electrical inventory including transformers, panels, motors, and related equipment
- Review and track electrical invoices and related cost data for accuracy
- Support internal metering allocations and billing processes
- Perform failure analysis and implement corrective and preventive improvements
- Maintain and update electrical system mapping and documentation (including KMZ files)
- Assist with special projects such as dedicated primary lines and other large-scale electrical installations
- Support management of electrical hedging strategies
- Oversee internal material transfers of electrical equipment
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required
- Working knowledge of oil and gas operational best practices and safety standards
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a high workload
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to identify and execute value-driven improvements with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours in both office and field environments
