Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to join a Federal Consulting company located in Midland, TX (fully on site). The Mechanisms Engineer will support the design, assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft mechanisms, contributing to the rapid production and deployment of a next‑generation satellite constellation.
This work is 100% on site, with relocation assistance and meal stipend provided in addition to salary and benefits.
- Assemble, integrate, and test spacecraft mechanisms, including thousands of moving parts per satellite
- Develop and operate ground support equipment for vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum testing
- Analyze test data, determine pass/fail criteria, and support spacecraft integration and launch operations
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure mechanism performance from design through mission deployment
- Troubleshoot anomalies, perform root‑cause analysis, and contribute to design improvements
- 2+ years of experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or related engineering fields
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly, testing, and integration of space hardware
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Solid Works, Creo) and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, thermal chambers)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility for occasional weekend and early morning work (e.g., 4 AM deployments)
Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000+ depending on experience
