Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
The Equipment Technician is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting the health of rotating equipment using technologies including vibration, thermography, oil analysis, pump and motor performance, compressor and engine performance, and key operating parameters. This role collaborates with operations, engineers, specialists, and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and repair equipment and provides support for multiple sites.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain vibration analysis program. Establish equipment routes and frequency. Collect and enter equipment data necessary for proper vibration analysis.
- Perform rotating and/or reciprocating equipment analysis techniques as required.
- Perform motor and/or engine analysis techniques as required.
- Develop and maintain lubricant oil analysis program, establishing routes and frequency.
- Periodically collect data from equipment (monthly, quarterly, etc.), including vibration data with portable systems, critical machinery performance metrics (flow rates, rotating speed, temperatures, process flow characteristics), and lubricant oil samples and analysis.
- Analyze data to resolve or proactively anticipate equipment failures.
- Lead and/or assist in root cause failure analysis using the Tap Root process.
- Implement continuous monitoring systems, such as alarms, reports, and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate scheduling of repairs by owning notifications and follow-up actions.
- Monitor equipment repairs in the field and at vendor shops.
- Report equipment deficiencies in SAP and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Maintenance/Reliability Specialists, engineers, planners, Operations Managers, and supervisors to prioritize deficiencies and foster continuous learning and improvement.
- Support the lubrication program by monitoring effectiveness, taking samples when required, interpreting analyses, and taking corrective actions.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience requirements vary by level:
- Level C: 0–2 years of relevant oil and gas operations experience or equivalent
- Level B: 2–4 years of relevant oil and gas operations experience or equivalent
- Level A: 4+ years of relevant oil and gas operations experience or equivalent
Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to interpret and analyze data. Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of SCADA systems and the ability to analyze data.
Working Conditions- Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions.
- Work in or around industrial and construction settings with potential hazards and requirement for personal protective equipment.
- Work around equipment and facilities requiring knowledge of safe work procedures.
- Subject to call-outs to respond to operational issues and emergencies outside regular hours.
- Reliable attendance and occasional overnight travel may be required.
