About Novi

Novi Labs is a rapidly growing artificial intelligence–driven company based in Austin, Texas. Our mission is to help oil & gas and energy investors improve economic outcomes on their investments through advanced data analytics and applied AI. Operators and energy investors trust Novi to optimize multi‑billion‑dollar capital programs, reduce risk, and improve performance by leveraging data‑driven insights. With a team of industry experts, data scientists, and software engineers, Novi is uniquely positioned to transform how upstream professionals make decisions.

We take pride in attracting exceptional talent by offering a challenging, collaborative, and rewarding work environment — where your contributions shape the future of digital transformation in energy.

The Role:

Technical Advisor – Reservoir Engineer

As a Reservoir Engineer – Applied AI & Analytics, the role intersects petroleum engineering and cutting‑edge data science, not as a software developer, but as the technical expert who deploys and applies the latest AI and analytics tools to answer the critical business questions that drive unconventional oil & gas operations. You will work side‑by‑side with engineers and decision‑makers at some of the largest unconventional operators in Lower 48, helping them leverage Novi’s AI‑driven platform to drive better development decisions, optimize capital programs, and unlock the full value of their data.

This is a client‑facing technical role where you will:

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to leading operators and investors.
  • Guide clients in using Novi’s AI‑driven tools to improve development planning, reserves assessment, and production optimization.
  • Drive adoption of Novi’s data platforms by delivering insights that influence high‑stakes capital allocation decisions.
  • Collaborate across internal teams (engineering, data science, sales, product) to continually enhance both client outcomes and Novi’s offerings.

This role is ideal for a reservoir or production engineer looking to grow into the next generation of energy analytics, blending petroleum expertise with applied AI.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  • Advise clients on integrating Novi’s data solutions into their workflows to improve productivity, reduce costs, and guide strategic decisions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve client challenges, coordinating with engineering and product teams to ensure rapid and effective solutions.
  • Act as a domain expert in unconventional resources, helping clients translate raw data into actionable reservoir insights.

Client Success & Strategic Partnership

  • Deliver high‑impact training workshops, product deep‑dives, and technical enablement sessions.
  • Develop tailored account strategies to expand adoption and ensure measurable business value.
  • Build strong relationships with engineers, managers, and executives across client organizations.
  • Become a trusted customer advisor through on‑site engagements with customers.

Innovation & Product Feedback

  • Share client insights and workflow needs with Novi’s product team to drive innovation.
  • Communicate platform enhancements, new use cases, and measurable outcomes to clients.
  • Stay current on oil & gas trends, data sources, and technologies to help shape best practices in digital reservoir engineering.
Requirements
  • Located in Midland, TX.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in unconventional resources as a reservoir, production, completions, or geoscience professional. Strong early‑career engineers with demonstrated data science or analytics skills through personal projects, coursework, or work outside the primary role are welcome.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and visualization.
  • Proven experience building analytical datasets and working with time‑series production and completion data.
