Generally responsible for environmental compliance activities for divisional facilities in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. This position will report to the Division Environmental Supervisor and work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team in a fast‑paced oil and gas environment. The successful candidate will support implementation of environmental programs for compliance with environmental laws and regulations applicable to the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil and gas industry.
Primary responsibilities include: spill response and remediation oversight, SPCC compliance inspections and plan upkeep, due diligence support, avian and wildlife protection, waste management including NORM compliance, support agency compliance inspections and audits, various sampling support of environmental media, and oversight of general housekeeping related to environmental quality and protection. This position works closely with operations staff and other environmental staff, acting as a liaison between the division and environmental agencies, coordinating inspections and follow‑up activities.
The candidate must maintain a working knowledge of applicable regulations and conduct regulatory assessments of divisional locations. They must be a self‑motivated, detail‑oriented team player comfortable working independently as well as within an interdisciplinary setting. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. The role requires recurring outdoor work with exposure to inclement weather and frequent field/facility site travel (20% office, 80% field).
Infrequent travel to Divisional or Corporate Headquarters may be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Promote environmental awareness at all levels of field management and operations, including recurring monthly training of field operation personnel on various standard and/or emerging environmental matters.
- Maintain a current working knowledge of environmental regulations pertinent to oil and gas operations and relevant federal, state and local jurisdictions.
- Perform field environmental activities including compliance inspections, sampling various media, GPS surveying, and oversight of remedial activities.
- Provide minor maintenance support to operations in support of compliance programs (e.g., SPCC) and applicable repair deadlines as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet often aggressive project deadlines.
- Support maintenance of a variety of plans, including SPCC, waste management, and other related compliance plans.
- Efficiently input, monitor, and trend environmental data to inform and support development of proactive programs of prevention, compliance and operations management.
- Assist with the annual implementation of the internal audit program to maintain comprehensive compliance of operations within the basin.
- Attend industry trade group meetings and participate in industry regulatory efforts.
- Prevent, respond to, mitigate, and remediate impacts associated with operational spills and leaks, including preparation of spill notifications and reports to applicable agencies.
- Other duties

- Minimum of 2+ years of oil & gas experience; related environmental experience preferred.
- Experience in earthwork operations or field contractor management preferred.
- Capable of performing on‑call duties as necessary.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, both internal and external.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Organized and able to manage multiple concurrent activities and programs with high accuracy.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and other internal programs as needed.
- Ability to foster cooperation and collaboration with diverse multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Capable of performing job functions independently with limited supervision.
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
