Position: I&E Project Manager – Oil & Gas (Permian Basin)

Adkins Electrical Services (AES) is looking for an Electrical Superintendent to join our rapidly growing company within the Oil & Gas Industry. AES is a specialized contractor serving the Southern and Western Texas area that also serves the Rocky Mountain Region from New Mexico to North Dakota.

AES is currently seeking an I&E Project Manager to join our Midland, TX team. This person will oversee I&E projects across oil and gas operations in the Permian/Delaware Basin. This role is responsible for managing the estimating, planning, execution, scheduling, budgeting, safety, and quality control of electrical and instrumentation projects from kickoff through completion.

The ideal candidate will have strong field experience, leadership ability, and a working knowledge of oilfield production facilities, compressor stations, tank batteries, SWDs, gas plants, pipeline facilities, and related electrical and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage I&E projects from planning and estimating through execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and client representatives.
  • Review project scopes, drawings, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Oversee installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation, and communication systems.
  • Manage project labor, materials, equipment, change orders, and documentation.
  • Track project progress, productivity, costs, and job profitability.
  • Communicate regularly with customers regarding schedule, scope changes, field conditions, and project status.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, customer requirements, NEC, API, OSHA, and applicable industry standards.
  • Support estimating and proposal development for new I&E work.
  • Lead job walks, pre-construction meetings, safety meetings, and project closeout reviews.
  • Identify project risks and develop solutions to keep work progressing efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, RFIs, change orders, redlines, as-builts, and commissioning records.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with operators, engineers, vendors, and field teams.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation work within the oil and gas industry.
  • Prior experience managing I&E projects, field crews, or multi-discipline construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, controls, and oilfield facility construction.
  • Experience working in the Permian Basin or similar oilfield environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and oil and gas safety standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast‑paced field environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, project tracking tools, and basic cost reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman Electrician license or electrical background preferred.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA, RTUs, flow meters, pressure transmitters, control valves, VFDs, MCCs, and automation systems.
  • Experience with upstream production, midstream, saltwater disposal, compressor stations, or gas processing facilities.
  • Familiarity with customer‑specific safety programs and permitting requirements.

This position will require both office and field work throughout the Permian Basin. The role may involve travel to remote oilfield locations, exposure to outdoor conditions, and coordination with crews working in active production environments.
