Job Summary The sales associate will support the manager in assuring the smooth operation of the Gift Shop. They will be responsible for providing a service-oriented atmosphere, maintaining cleanliness and order and filling in staples (candy, soda, flowers, greeting cards, sundries, balloons, helium). Also responsible for candy orders and assuring that balloons are in stock as needed.

COMPETENCIES:

Demonstrates the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities.
* 1. Exhibit strong communication skills while dealing with visitors, patients and employees at the hospital. Each gift shop employee acts as an ambassador for the hospital, providing a warm, caring environment for everyone that enters. They are very knowledgeable about the hospital as they provide directions and assistance to the public.
2. Responsible for physically opening and/or closing the shop. This consists of placing all movable displays and gondolas in and out of the lobby area.
3. Responsible for setting up, operating and cashing out the register at the end of their shift. They will also prepare bank deposit and prepare change for the day. 4. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the shop by filling in merchandise, candy, soda and flowers as needed, managing housekeeping and engineering concerns such as vacuuming, helium, etc. 5.

Provide a service-oriented atmosphere by giving sales assistance, gift wrapping, delivering items to patients.
6. Coordinates candy orders and keeping balloons in stockCUSTOMER SERVICE:
1. Demonstrates the ability to create a positive interaction with the customer.
2. Demonstrates positive communication with people of different cultures, values and beliefs.
3. Demonstrates the ability to acknowledge customer concerns and takes corrective action.
4. Demonstrates compliance with identified customer service behaviors.
5. Provides escort to customers when necessary.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:
1. Participates in Department/Hospital-wide activities which improve processes and/or outcomes.
2. Utilizes resources to maintain and improve self development and knowledge.
3. Complies with licensure and/or certification requirements.
4. Participates in annual competency assessment.

BUDGET:
1. Demonstrates fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies.
2. Utilizes charge process for supplies/equipment.. PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Completes projects/assignments within projected time frames and expectations.
