Job Description

Responsible for on‑going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides nurse/clinician with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythm. Monitors heart rhythm patterns to detect, record, and report normal/abnormal heart patterns, normal/abnormal ECG interval measurements and proper/improper pacemaker or implantable defibrillator function utilizing telemetry equipment.

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

Full Time, Days, 6:45 am‑7:15 pm

Essential Functions/Performance Expectations
  • Follows expected workflows and processes set up for the delivery of non‑clinical and clinical care.
  • Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns and prior variances.
  • Observes cardiac monitor and notifies the nursing and/or medical staff of any abnormal heart rhythm variances.
  • Manages telemetry equipment and supplies.
  • Must successfully complete a competency examination as defined by department competency requirements for Telemetry Monitor Technicians.
  • Obtain certification as a monitor technician by an approved organization to be designated MT II. Certification is the Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) certification.
Education And Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Monitor Tech II: national certification in telemetry required.

  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non‑clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted‑lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
