Position Description

A graduate student in an institution within the Texas Tech University System employed in support of a department or unit responsible for work assigned by the supervisor within the unit or department which utilizes knowledge beyond undergraduate academic studies.

The School of Health Professions Nadine and Tom Craddick Physician Assistant Studies program is inviting applications for tutors who will assist 1st year MPAS didactic students during the summer and fall semesters. During summer semester, tutors are expected to work 4-6 hours per week (max 8 hrs). All tutors will commit to a minimum of one 2‑hour open office tutoring session when any student may seek assistance.

Tutors may be assigned 1‑2 students for individual tutoring based on need. During Fall semester, tutors may be assigned 1‑2 students for individual tutoring, as needed. All tutoring will occur on campus, in a public study area, or via Zoom.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Coach students through difficult material in the MPAS curriculum
  • Actively engage PA students by asking questions that will facilitate their learning and encourage students to improve their study methods
  • Maintain a professional attitude and helpful demeanor
  • Provide constructive and accurate feedback
  • Maintain defined open office tutoring hours and manage tutoring appointments dependably, communicating any schedule changes with all parties involved
  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and appointments
  • Consistently perform work demonstrating professional maturity, commitment and accountability according to the five values described in TTUHSC’s Values‑Based Culture:

Required Qualifications

Enrolled in the graduate program of an institution within the Texas Tech University System.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Record of excellent performance and management in medical applied basic sciences and clinical medicine.
  • Record of excellent interprofessional communication skills.
