Position Overview Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for an onsite contract opportunity in Midland, TX. This position provides hands-on HR support across employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, training, compliance, retention, workers’ compensation, and employee engagement within a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day Human Resources support to employees, managers, and facility leadership.
- Interpret and administer HR policies, procedures, employment regulations, and organizational standards.
- Coordinate recruitment, interviewing, candidate selection, job postings, reference checks, and background screening.
- Manage new-hire, termination, and employee-change documentation.
- Coordinate new-hire orientation, annual training, CPR, required competencies, and behavioral health de-escalation training.
- Monitor employee credentials, licenses, certifications, training, and other compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate personnel files and HR records for active and inactive employees.
- Support managers with employee relations, performance management, corrective action, disciplinary matters, and performance appraisals.
- Develop and support employee engagement and retention initiatives.
- Respond to employment verification, reference, and unemployment compensation inquiries.
- Maintain accurate employee time and attendance records.
- Process payroll accurately and timely, including payroll adjustments, PTO payouts, supplemental checks, and corrections.
- Prepare payroll, overtime, and labor reports for management.
- Coordinate employee benefits administration and open enrollment activities.
- Assist employees with benefits questions and maintain related documentation.
- Maintain workers’ compensation records and coordinate claims-related documentation.
- Support employee health and workplace risk-management activities.
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws, Equal Employment Opportunity requirements, Joint Commission standards, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll, medical, and organizational information.
- Complete required HR reporting and documentation within established deadlines.
- Perform additional HR projects and responsibilities as assigned.
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience.
- Previous healthcare Human Resources experience required.
- Experience supporting multiple HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits, and training.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Strong experience interpreting and administering HR policies and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and related business applications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee matters professionally and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Midland, TX.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
- 2+ years of employee relations experience.
- Previous HR experience within a hospital, behavioral health, or other healthcare environment.
- Experience with timekeeping, payroll audits, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, and performance management.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission and healthcare compliance standards.
- Ability to successfully complete required CPR certification.
- Ability to successfully complete required behavioral health de-escalation training.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
