The Lead Materials Specialist
- Texas/New Mexico Regions will provide expertise in managing the safe receipt, preservation, storage, staging, movement, and tracking of goods and materials in accordance with company requirements. This role supports a regional warehouse and field-facing materials network across Texas and New Mexico, which roll under the Shale & Tight Business (S&TB), and will report to the Team Lead, Materials Management for S&TB.
The role is accountable for overseeing third-party warehouse operations, driving operational performance, and ensuring materials management and warehouse operations processes are executed consistently, safely, efficiently, and in a compliant manner. The role will require excellent stakeholder management, collaborative partnership skills, and strong teaming across regional operations, internal support functions, and third-party warehouse partners.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide end-to-end materials management oversight in support of Texas/New Mexico operations within the Shale & Tight Business.
- Supports stakeholders and plays a key role in providing related guidance, developing material strategies, and implementing process improvements that enable cost-effective and reliable supply to end users.
- Monitor and influence third-party warehouse performance through KPI review, issue escalation, corrective action tracking, and regular engagement with warehouse leadership and regional stakeholders.
- Support optimal inventory availability, monitor inventory turns, action slow-moving and obsolete items, and mitigate stock-out scenarios.
- Support continuous improvement, simplification, and strategic initiatives/projects.
- Reinforce operational control expectations, OE safeguards, training compliance, and safe work execution across warehouse and field-facing materials management activities.
- The individual must be a self-starter with the ability to identify performance gaps, work collaboratively across functions and external partners, influence without direct authority, and drive actions to closure.
- Travel to warehouse locations, field operating locations, and third-party yards is required on a regular basis.
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Candidates with significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Preferred 7-10 years of experience in materials management, warehouse operations, inventory management, supply chain, maintenance support, or related operational disciplines.
- Experience supporting field operations and working with cross-functional stakeholders in operations, maintenance, planning, procurement, logistics, or supply chain environments.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4
HANA, inventory controls, material planning, and warehouse operations. - Experience influencing outcomes and leading initiatives across organizational boundaries without direct supervisory authority.
