Job DescriptionAs a Control Room Operator, you will play a vital role in monitoring the gas compressor fleet’s operation and ensuring its smooth functioning. You will be responsible for continuously monitoring performance indicators, operating parameters, and the overall status of gas compressors at various locations. Your primary focus will be to identify anomalies and potential issues promptly and report them to the field personnel for resolution.
Additional duties include data entry, data maintenance, and fielding customer callouts. Safety and adherence to operational guidelines will be paramount as you contribute to the reliable and efficient operation of our gas compressors.
- Monitor Gas Compressor Operations:
- Utilize control room systems (SCADA, GPS, etc.) to continuously monitor the performance, operating parameters, and status of gas compressors in the fleet.
- Anomaly Detection:
- Identify and report any abnormal equipment behavior or potential issues to field personnel for further action.
- Data Recording and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of operational data, including equipment readings, alarms, and actions taken. Generate shift reports and update operational logs as required.
- Critical Response:
- Be prepared to respond promptly to critical repair situations, follow established procedures, and assist field personnel in implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Field Personnel:
- Communicate effectively with field personnel to coordinate maintenance activities, troubleshoot equipment issues, and optimize compressor performance.
- Adhere to Safety Standards:
- Comply with all safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and industry regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
- Work Requirements:
- Work in a rotational, 7 days on – 7 days off schedule, with alternating hitches covering days and nights.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and safety. Provide suggestions for process enhancements and participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Minimum Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical education or certifications in mechanical or instrumentation is a plus).
- Minimum Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar control room operator role or natural gas compressor field experience.
- Familiarity with gas compression systems and equipment is desirable.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation principles.
- Ability to interpret data and identify anomalies.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and field personnel.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including rotating shifts and weekends.
- Reliable and on-time attendance.
- Adherence to safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to prevent operational disruptions.
- Must be fit for duty for the job tasks being performed.
- Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE (includes respiratory protection medical requirements) as required by the role.
- Frequently required to display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms.
- Constantly required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to sit while driving or using a PC.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with good balance.
- Occasionally required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds.
- Occasionally required to carry at least 40 pounds with one hand for at least 10 feet.
- Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and vertical ladders.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
