The Assembler is responsible for building, assembling, and preparing equipment and components used in oil and gas operations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow engineering instructions, drawings, and standardized processes with precision. The ideal candidate takes initiative, communicates effectively, and contributes to a safe, efficient, and positive team environment.
- Assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic components according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and bill of materials (BOM).
- Perform precise measurements, alignments, and torque applications using appropriate tools (e.g., torque wrenches, gauges, measuring devices).
- Identify, stage, and prepare parts and materials needed for assignments to support efficient workflow.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Verify correct installation of parts and components through visual checks and functional tests.
- Ensure assembled equipment meets specifications, tolerances, and quality standards before release.
- Document work performed in job travelers, production records, or digital systems as required.
- Report quality issues, missing information, or design discrepancies promptly so they can be resolved quickly.
- Assist with troubleshooting, rework, and root-cause identification on assembly issues when necessary.
- Follow all company safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and required PPE.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area to support safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Immediately report hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment malfunctions to supervision.
- Collaborate with other assemblers, welders, engineers, and supervisors to meet production goals.
- Communicate proactively about progress, challenges, or materials needed to keep jobs on schedule.
- Support a positive, solutions-focused environment by working respectfully with peers and leadership.
- Participate in efforts to improve assembly processes, reduce rework, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Suggest ideas for workflow, tooling, or quality improvements when opportunities are identified.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned to support production and company goals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how parts fit and function within mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and bills of materials (BOM).
- Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and measuring instruments (calipers, tape measures, gauges).
- Basic troubleshooting skills to identify assembly issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to follow standardized processes while also adapting to changes in priorities or instructions.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and engineering.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and maintain productivity without sacrificing accuracy or safety.
- Basic computer or tablet skills for entering data, reading work orders, or documenting job steps (if applicable to your environment).
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1–3 years of assembly, mechanical repair, manufacturing, or related experience (oil & gas equipment experience preferred).
