We are looking for an Area Operations Manager to join our team in Midland, TX
. As the Ready‑Mix Area Operations Manager with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will oversee operations across multiple concrete plants in the operating company. This role is responsible for managing plant managers, optimizing production, maintaining quality and safety standards, and ensuring efficient plant operations across the area. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in ready‑mix concrete production, leadership skills to manage multiple teams, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Foster a strong safety culture across all plants, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards, conducting audits, and driving safety initiatives.
  • Oversee daily operations across multiple ready‑mix plants, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to company standards.
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure each plant meets production standards and customer expectations.
  • Manage and mentor plant managers, providing direction, resources, and support to ensure effective plant operations and team performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across plants to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
  • Manage operational budgets for each plant, monitoring expenses, and implementing cost‑saving measures where feasible.
  • Coordinate resources, such as equipment and staffing, across plants to maximize productivity and meet operational demands.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by overseeing product quality and delivery schedules, and maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze operational data and provide regular reports on production, efficiency, costs, and safety metrics to senior management.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
About You We Require:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ready‑mix concrete production, with at least 3 years in a multi‑site or area management role.
  • In‑depth understanding of concrete production, batching, dispatching, and plant management processes.
  • Proven track record in managing and developing high‑performing teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong decision‑making skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues at multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing process improvements to drive operational excellence.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and cost management.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with team members, customers, and senior management.
  • Familiarity with plant management software, scheduling tools, and reporting systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a focus on promoting a safe work environment.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing at times.
  • The employee must consistently lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Ability to use vibration tools.
  • May occasionally deal with heights.
  • Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
