Job Summary
Join Pratt & Whitney’s Columbus Forge team as a Machining Working Lead and play a key role in leading daily machining operations that support some of the world’s most advanced aerospace products. In this role, you will combine hands‑on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, serving as a subject matter expert, troubleshooting manufacturing challenges, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and helping develop the next generation of machinists while ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are achieved.
This is a 2nd Shift position, Monday – Thursday, 4:00pm – 2:30am.
- Lead by example on the production floor by providing technical guidance, mentoring team members, and helping resolve machining and process‑related issues.
- Support daily manufacturing operations by completing production transactions, maintaining work‑in‑process status, coordinating tools and supplies, and promoting a safe, organized work environment.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC and related machining equipment to produce high‑quality aerospace components while meeting safety, quality, and production standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, work instructions, and precision measurements to ensure parts meet engineering specifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance, basic equipment repairs, tooling adjustments, deburring, cleaning, and inspection activities to support reliable operations.
You Must Have
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 6+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.
We Prefer
- Experience with Okuma and/or Fanuc controlled 4‑Axis turning lathes.
- Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring manufacturing team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing systems (e.g., SAP or MRP).
- Experience in aerospace, forging, or other precision manufacturing environments.
