Founded in 2004, this locally owned manufacturing organization employs approximately 100 to 250 employees across its operations in Midland, Texas. The company specializes in the design, fabrication, and manufacturing of high-quality industrial products and utility-related equipment, with a strong reputation built on quality, customer satisfaction, craftsmanship, and integrity.

The Midland facility serves as the company's primary manufacturing and production hub, supporting welding, fabrication, quality control, testing, and utility equipment manufacturing operations. The site emphasizes workforce development, welding excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement to ensure products meet demanding customer and industry standards.

The organization serves customers across utilities, infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, construction, energy, and related heavy fabrication markets that depend on safe, reliable, and high-quality welded products.

The Weld Test Coordinator will own and lead the organizations Welder Development Program, ensuring all welder qualifications, testing, training, and compliance requirements are managed accurately and efficiently across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer all welder qualification testing activities, including pre-test reviews, visual inspections, bend testing, radiographic testing coordination, and final qualification decisions.
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready welder qualification records, including certifications, continuity tracking, requalification schedules, and cross-training documentation.
  • Monitor qualification expiration dates and proactively schedule continuity reviews and requalification testing to maintain compliance.
  • Support welding consumable management by verifying filler metal requirements, maintaining certifications, and ensuring compliance with applicable welding procedures.
  • Track weld quality metrics, repair rates, and rejection trends while supporting root cause analysis, corrective actions, workforce development, and Cost of Quality initiatives.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in welding quality, welding inspection, quality assurance, or a related role within a fabrication, manufacturing, construction, utility, or industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, welding qualification requirements, and welding compliance standards.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent recognized welding inspection credential strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Nice to have:
    Experience with welding qualification software, quality management systems, NDE coordination, weld process improvement initiatives, bilingual English/Spanish communication skills, and workforce training program administration.

  • Ability to split time between office-based program administration and shop-floor testing, inspections, and training activities.
