American Traveler is hiring an RN for an 8-week Emergency Department contract requiring 2+ years of ER experience and Level II or III trauma exposure with adults and children.
Details- General Emergency Department setting treating combined adult and pediatric patients
- Level II or III trauma center experience required
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 8-week contract assignment
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Expect to work some holidays
- Active TX or compact RN license required (pending license accepted with submission, must be active before start)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required (must be willing to obtain if offered)
- NIHSS certification required and NRP preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience required, preferably in a similarly sized facility; 5-8 years preferred
- Recent ER travel experience within the past 6-8 months preferred
- Skilled in pediatric emergency care including abdominal pain, asthma, burns, and respiratory infections
- Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
- Proficient in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, intubation, and ABG interpretation
- Skilled in IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Trauma skills including management of gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Proficient in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and splint application
- Two supervisor references from within the last 3 years of employment required for consideration
- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including neurological, respiratory, psychiatric, and orthopedic cases
- Administer emergency medications and IV vasopressors, and monitor procedural sedation
- Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse
- An on-site drug screen is required upon arrival, including testing for marijuana; a positive result will result in automatic cancellation, so candidates should avoid CBD products prior to starting
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
