Inspection Advisor II

Compensation: $95/hr (1099 rate) and $125/day Truck Allowance (Days Worked)

Location: Midland, TX

Schedule: 5/2, 50 hours per week

Scope / Overview

The Inspection Advisor II will support the Permian Business Unit by providing quality assurance and inspection oversight for construction, fabrication, maintenance, and facility projects. This role serves as the subject matter expert for welding, coatings, civil works, piping, pressure vessels, tanks, equipment installations, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), ensuring contractor and supplier compliance with company standards, specifications, and quality requirements.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Promote safety within assigned area of specialty.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure construction and fabrication work is performed in accordance with applicable specifications and quality requirements.
  • Provide expert inspection and testing guidance to Construction and Maintenance Supervisors and Foremen.
  • Support inspection disciplines including:
    • Welding
    • Coatings
    • Civil works
    • Piping systems
    • Pressure vessels
    • Tank fabrication
    • Equipment installations
    • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
  • Assist contractors and suppliers with development and improvement of Quality Control programs and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Review and evaluate contractor and supplier quality documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Participate in:
    • Mechanical Completion Walkdowns
    • PSSR Walkdowns
    • Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
    • Final Inspection Release Activities
  • Review supplier Quality Control documentation and support punch list closure activities.
  • Communicate significant quality concerns and inspection findings to Quality and Functional Supervision.
  • Prepare and deliver:
    • Inspection Reports
    • Quality Incident Reports
    • Nonconformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Ensure contractor quality records and documentation are properly maintained and submitted.
  • Identify potential quality risks early and develop mitigation strategies to prevent recurrence.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of Quality and/or Inspection experience supporting major oil & gas projects.
  • Current or previous AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
    .
  • Strong knowledge of construction, fabrication, inspection, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and sound judgment in high-stress situations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field and shop locations as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience reviewing quality documentation, inspection records, and contractor deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or previous ACCP/NACE Coating Inspector Certification
    .
  • Current or previous certifications in NDT methods including:
    • RT (Radiographic Testing)
    • UT (Ultrasonic Testing)
    • PT (Penetrant Testing)
    • MT (Magnetic Particle Testing)
  • Experience supporting mechanical completion, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Experience conducting or supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Permian Basin project experience preferred.
Notes
  • $125/day truck allowance for days worked.
  • Heavy emphasis on quality assurance, welding inspection, and contractor oversight
    .
  • AWS CWI certification is required and should be treated as a must-have qualification.
  • Candidates possessing both CWI and NACE/Coating certifications will be highly competitive.
  • Additional NDT certifications (RT, UT, PT, MT) will significantly strengthen candidate rankings.
  • Field travel throughout the Permian Basin should be expected.
