Quality Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on automotive and aerospace-quality engineering within a startup environment dedicated to satellite manufacturing for the space industry. The Quality Engineer supports second shift operations and ensures that composite materials, structures, and electrical/electronics systems meet rigorous quality standards through inspection, testing, and non-conformance management.
Responsibilities
+ Perform detailed quality inspections on composite materials, structures, and automotive/aerospace components.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality inspection plans to ensure consistent product quality.
+ Participate in Material Review Board activities, evaluating material-related issues and determining appropriate disposition.
+ Contribute to Failure Review Board activities by analyzing root causes of failures and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
+ Prepare and manage non-conformance reports, documenting issues, tracking resolutions, and supporting continuous improvement.
+ Utilize Manufacturing Execution Systems to record, track, and monitor production and quality data.
+ Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure parts and assemblies meet design and functional requirements.
+ Use a variety of inspection tools and measurement equipment to verify product conformity to specifications.
+ Support functional testing activities, including micron-level functional tests and antenna bonding, to validate performance of satellite components.
+ Leverage electrical and electronics experience to assess and verify quality of electronic assemblies and related systems.
+ Collaborate with production, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
+ Provide quality engineering support to second shift operations, ensuring timely response to issues and adherence to quality standards.
+ Contribute to the development and refinement of quality processes and documentation in a startup, satellite manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
+ Experience as a Quality Engineer in automotive manufacturing or closely related industries.
+ Strong experience in composite material quality engineering, including inspection and process control.
+ Structures experience, with the ability to assess and verify structural integrity and compliance.
+ Hands-on experience with quality inspection, including planning, execution, and documentation.
+ Proficiency in developing and managing quality inspection plans.
+ Experience working with Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards.
+ Expertise in non-conformance reporting and corrective action processes.
+ Working knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems for production and quality tracking.
+ Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Proficiency in using inspection tools and measurement equipment.
+ experience in functional testing of components and systems, including micron-level functional tests.
+ Electrical and electronics experience relevant to quality assessment of electronic assemblies.
+ Experience in automotive or aerospace industry environments.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
Client agrees to pay salary, relocation expenses, stock, hotel and stipend
