A multinational corporation with operations in 15 different countries, this client is responsible for the production, transportation, and marketing of crude oil, bitumen, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and liquefied natural gas.

Job Summary

The HSE Specialist/WSER III is responsible for promoting a safe and compliant work environment by implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs in accordance with regulatory and company standards. This role supports incident investigations, risk assessments, safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize workplace hazards and ensure operational excellence. The specialist also provides technical guidance on HSE matters and serves as a resource for employees and management.

Job Description
  • Provide safety leadership to management and employees to include OSHA standards and compliance strategies, DOT Compliance Requirements, and Client's policies and standards
  • Performs tasks in a wide range of environmental, health, and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the organization's EH&S standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community
  • Assists in monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area
  • Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the workplace
  • Participates in recommending improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment, to minimize the hazardous potential
  • Ensures HSE excellence through training, involvement in behavior-based programs, auditing of management and safety systems, rig inspections, gathering and trending leading and trailing indicators, and participation in the incident investigation & reporting processes
  • Be a functional expert in most health, safety, and environmental disciplines
  • Provides guidance, regulatory interpretation, and assists with procedure development for a variety of HSE issues
Skills Required
  • Experienced level, typically 5–7 years of experience
  • 3+ years of upstream HSE experience
  • 3+ years of experience with HSE Management Systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • ASP, CSP, CIH, or other certifications
  • Ability to network and gain cooperation from members of other work groups
  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for the exchange of opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries
  • Requires a strong understanding of the discipline
  • Able to apply knowledge and experience to complex problems and develop recommendations
  • Makes decisions within broad parameters
  • Acts as an informal resource for others with less experience
Education/Training/Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Sciences, related field or foreign equivalent
Additional Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or as an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
  • Willing and able to perform the following (with or without reasonable accommodation):
    • Work in temperature extremes or adverse weather conditions
    • Work in several different geographic locations every day
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Climb heights up to 24 feet
    • Walk, bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull
    • Work weekends and be on call
