Position Summary
As a Community Technician 2, you are a multi-faceted maintenance professional with proven success delivering quality service to residents and the community. Each day you will work in both vacant and occupied apartments, performing tasks that include painting, drywall repairs, and maintenance repairs requested by the company. A successful Community Technician 2 manages time effectively, is detail‑oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work.
This position requires accountability and attentiveness to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with residents, associates, and vendors.
- Prepare all vacant apartments for occupancy including painting, drywall repair, trash removal, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
- Independently perform system repairs on electrical, plumbing, hot water heaters, HVAC systems, appliances, boilers, etc.
- Perform detailed carpentry, drywall repairs, and interior/exterior painting, distinguishing when full paint or touch‑up is needed and identifying the correct paint sheen and color.
- Repair plank, vinyl, and carpet flooring.
- Complete resident service requests daily and in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Identify and carry out preventative maintenance as assigned.
- Clean pools as directed, monitor chemical balance, and maintain logs required by city ordinances when applicable.
- Perform daily grounds maintenance, including trash disposal, pet waste removal, maintaining pet waste stations, and sweeping walkways.
- Participate promptly in property improvements and scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
- Utilize Weidner‑issued cell phone and specified apps as part of your daily role.
- Use personal vehicle to travel between assigned properties during work hours.
- Participate in the on‑call rotation as scheduled.
- 3–5 years of maintenance experience required.
- 3–5 years of painting and drywall repair experience required.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude required.
- Able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs at a time.
- Able to use appliance dolly, push/pull up to 200 pounds.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to stand on feet constantly for the entire work shift, if applicable.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, swimming pool maintenance, appliances, building systems, irrigation systems, and HVAC systems.
- HVAC, CPO, EPA certification desired or required as directed by regional leadership.
- Industry designations such as CAMT desired.
- Complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with strong motivation to learn and contribute daily.
- Able to give professional directions clearly in person, over the phone, email, and text.
- Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred.
- Experience with Yardi and Paycom preferred; willingness and ability to learn new software programs.

- Work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment and/or independently.
- Ability to work outside of normal scheduled hours as needed.
- Willingness and ability to be assigned to other Weidner properties as needed.
- Working knowledge of English; detail oriented and well organized.
- Must agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing.
- Must have access to personal vehicle and/or reliable transportation at all times.
- Driver’s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance must be valid, unexpired, and match the country in which the associate will work.
