Generator/Engine Mechanic

Job Description

The Generator / Engine Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high-horsepower generators and large-bore rotating equipment. This role ensures equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently, with a focus on both mechanical and electrical systems. The position may require rotational travel but local candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on high-horsepower engines and generators (1,000–2,000 HP).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to restore equipment to full operational capacity.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Follow safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and quality standards.
  • Diagnose and repair rotating equipment, including large-bore engines and associated systems.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new generator systems or equipment as required.
  • Participate in on-call rotations or travel assignments as needed.
Skills And Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a generator or engine mechanic, with a focus on high-horsepower equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience with rotating equipment, large-bore engines, and electrical systems.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to operational protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physically capable of performing heavy lifting, bending, and working in variable environmental conditions.
  • Flexible for rotational assignments; local candidates preferred.
