Description Job Summary

The Service Technician supports all aspects of flowback equipment maintenance, preparation, and operation within a high-demand, safety-focused environment. This hands-on role requires mechanical aptitude, adherence to strict safety and quality protocols, and the ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and pressure testing units. The Service Technician will assist in the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of flowback and support equipment, and contribute to the overall organization and cleanliness of the work area.

The position is primarily shop and yard-based, with field support provided as needed.

Candidates must be capable of working outdoors in extreme weather, lifting heavy loads, and performing physically demanding tasks at heights or in confined spaces. Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently or under minimal supervisor are essential.

A minimum of one year of recent experience with flowback equipment is required, along with completion of applicable safety and technical training. A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and the ability to pass drug screening and background checks are mandatory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspecting equipment – Checking flowback iron, separators, sand traps, manifolds, valves, and hoses for damage or wear
  • Repair & maintenance – Fixing leaks, replacing seals, greasing valves, and rebuilding components
  • Pressure testing – Hydro-testing iron and equipment to ensure safety and integrity
  • Cleaning equipment – Removing oil, sand, and debris after jobs
  • Inventory control – Tracking tools, parts, and equipment readiness
  • Loading/unloading – Assisting with preparing equipment for transport to job sites
  • Documentation – Logging inspections, repairs, and test results.
  • Understands and follows all HR, HSE and Quality Management Policies
  • Attends and engages in all OJT led by a Shop Technician II, III or Supervisor, and any other available training that is required to perform job successfully
  • Assists in all facets of equipment maintenance, preparation, testing and appearance as directed and as specific to Flowback operations
  • Responsible for maintenance and operation of the support equipment necessary to prepare the pressure equipment for storage or job prep. (Steam Cleaner, Forklift, Crane, Pressure Test Unit, Torque Units, Paint Booth Apparatus)
  • Keeps working area and facility in an organized and neat condition
  • Available to workdays and times necessary to complete required work
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned
Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Requires operation of heavy equipment
  • Requires employee to stand for up to 100% of the time
  • Requires employees to climb ladders or stairs to inspect, repair, and paint equipment
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 80 - 95 pounds
  • High noise environment (>85dbA) will occur with ear protection
  • This position requires working in outdoor Shop environment consisting of wet, and/or humid conditions as well as extreme heat and extreme cold
  • Requires employees to climb heights of at least 10 feet moving and maintaining self in different positions—stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and small spaces
  • Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus?
Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of flowback operations and high-pressure systems
  • Familiarity with oilfield equipment (chokes, valves, iron, separators)
  • Basic mechanical skills and tool usage
  • Knowledge of safety standards (pressure ratings, LOTO, PPE)
  • Ability to read pressure test charts and equipment specs
  • Perform pressure testing utilizing certified test equipment and complete all QA/ QC documentation as required by the QHSE program (if skilled)
