Combo Welder – Stanton, TX
Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD), part of Koch Engineered Solutions, is an engineering/construction company specializing in natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical projects. OPD provides a full range of construction and engineering services, delivering projects as a single stop shop.
We are looking for a qualified Combo Welder to work at our site in Stanton, TX. The role requires hands‑on welding experience, safety leadership, and the ability to travel and work shifts up to 12 hours per day.
Responsibilities- Understand and follow weld procedures for designated areas.
- Weld pipes, tubes, fittings, and equipment to specifications.
- Operate tools and equipment including angle grinders, beveling machines, cut‑off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw‑Zall.
- Maintain knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, and welding equipment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Participate in a strong safety culture and attend onsite safety meetings.
- Recognize safety hazards, follow OPD and client safety policies, and stay aware of changing conditions on a jobsite.
- Be punctual and ready for work each day.
- Display a positive attitude and collaborate in a team environment.
- Work in outdoor weather and environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and high elevations.
- Lift and carry objects up to 60 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods up to 12 hours per day.
- Use arms, legs, and body for climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending.
- Work on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow beams and pipes while wearing a harness.
- Operate hands to handle tools and materials.
- At least one year of general welding experience.
- Pass the ASME Section IX 6G pipe test (SMAW & GTAW) and AWS D1.1 plate test for structural welds (SMAW).
- Produce 100 % x‑ray quality welds that meet ASME B 31.3 requirements.
- Willingness to travel and work extended periods away from home.
- Ability to work shifts of up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Meet basic physical demands with or without accommodations.
- Attend mandatory safety meetings.
- Five years of welding experience.
- Experience in gas plant construction.
- Leadership experience in safety.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
